WoW Forever keeps the original talent trees' shape, three per class with the same rows and 51 points from level 10 to 60, but adds a new 16-point milestone to the classic 11-, 21- and 31-point ones and reworks many talents. Here is what the beta client we read (build 1.60.1.70009) shows for every specialization: its new 16-point talent and its 31-point capstone.

What stays and what changes

Blizzard describes the revision as Classic-minded: familiar structure, the same number of rows, and one-point milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points, now joined by a new one at 16. Some talents stay exactly as they were in patch 1.12, others are adjusted or improved, and talents that granted key class buffs, such as Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild, are now baseline for their class.

The count doesn't change: one point per level from 10 to 60, 51 in all. The Legacy system adds a perk, Talented, that brings the first points up to five levels earlier; the total stays 51.

What moved, and what is new

The new 16-point row takes in talents that were 31-point capstones in the original trees: Trueshot Aura, Stormstrike, Mana Tide Totem and Swiftmend. Other former capstones drop to the 21-point row, such as Holy Shock, Repentance, Spirit of Redemption and Leader of the Pack.

Many 31-point talents are still the familiar ones: Mortal Strike, Bloodthirst, Shield Slam, Arcane Power, Shadowform, Bestial Wrath and Moonkin Form among them. Others bring in abilities from later expansions, such as Lava Burst, Riptide, Wild Growth and Berserk, and some are names the original trees never had, like Light's Vigil, Twist of Light, Rage of the Farseer and Sniper Shot. These are beta values, and Blizzard is still tuning classes build by build.

Planning a build

During the beta, a respec costs 1 silver if you haven't reset recently, so testers can try several builds; after a first reset the price climbs, then drops back after an hour. Outside the game, our talent planner has every class's three trees, with the milestones and the ranks from the client, and a Legacy planner for the account-wide perks. The Legacy challenges guide explains how to earn the points for Talented, and our beta guide covers the latest class changes.

Each class also has its own guide, with every new talent and spell in the beta: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock and Druid.
