In WoW Forever, every Priest learns Divine Spirit, Lightwell, Fear Ward, Devouring Plague and Shadow Word: Death, the three trees get new talents such as Penance and Prayer of Mending, and the racial priest spells change. Six races can play the class: Human, Dwarf, Night Elf and, new in Forever, Gnome for the Alliance, Undead and Troll for the Horde, but not the Skyborne. This guide reads the beta client (build 1.60.1.70009) and Blizzard's beta notes.

What every Priest gets

Blizzard names Divine Spirit among the buffs made baseline; five spells now reach every priest:

  • Divine Spirit, a 21-point Discipline talent in Classic Era, from level 30: up to 40 more Spirit for 1 hour (rank 4, level 60).
  • Lightwell, the Holy tree's old 31-point talent, from level 40: party or raid members click it for up to 1,600 health over 10 sec (rank 3, level 60).
  • Fear Ward, Dwarf-only in Classic Era, at level 20: the next Fear effect used against the target fails; 3-minute cooldown.
  • Devouring Plague, Undead-only in Classic Era, at level 20: a disease dealing up to 848 Shadow damage over 24 sec (rank 6, level 60) that heals you for the damage; 1-minute cooldown.
  • Shadow Word: Death, new, with ranks at levels 32, 40, 48 and 56: instant, 175 Mana, 30 yards, 15-second cooldown, 286 to 304 Shadow damage at rank 1 and 434 to 462 at rank 4. If the target survives, you take backlash damage equal to 10% of your maximum health.

Blizzard's September 24 beta notes fix two core spells: Renew can now land critical hits, and Power Word: Shield can always overwrite an existing shield on a target without Weakened Soul.

Two racial spells per race

Numbers are at the last rank.

  • Human: Divine Grace (level 10, new) instantly heals an ally below 50% health for 1,269 to 1,497 and removes Weakened Soul; not on yourself, 10-minute cooldown. Feedback (level 20): for 15 sec, each spell cast on you burns 105 of the caster's Mana, dealing 1 Shadow damage per point.
  • Dwarf: Desperate Prayer (level 10), which Humans no longer get, instantly heals you for 1,269 to 1,497. Chastise (level 20, new) deals 272 to 306 Holy damage and immobilizes a Humanoid for up to 2 sec; 2-minute cooldown.
  • Night Elf: Starshards (level 10) channels 1,800 Arcane damage over 6 sec; Blizzard's notes say Twilight Focus now correctly protects it from pushback. Elune's Grace (level 20) makes melee and ranged attacks 50% less likely to hit you for 15 sec.
  • Gnome: Confounding Flash (level 10, new) confuses up to 5 enemies within 8 yards for 3 sec, broken by damage; 2-minute cooldown. Contingency Plan (level 20, new) is instant, 30 yards, 10-minute cooldown; Blizzard's notes only say it can now land critical hits.
  • Undead: Touch of Weakness (level 10): your next melee attacker takes 56 Shadow damage and loses 204 attack power for 2 min. Dark Sacrifice (level 20, new) is instant, 10-minute cooldown; Blizzard's notes say its Mana gain scales with Spirit and it no longer breaks crowd control that breaks on damage.
  • Troll: Hex of Weakness (level 10) cuts an enemy's melee attack power by 204 and the effectiveness of any healing by 20% for 2 min. Shadowguard (level 20): for 10 min, 3 charges deal 96 Shadow damage to attackers who hit you.

Discipline: Penance and faster shields

  • Power in Light (0 points in the tree, 5 ranks): Smite and Penance deal 10% more damage to targets afflicted with your Holy Fire.
  • Twin Disciplines (0 points in the tree, 5 ranks): Your instant cast spells deal 5% more damage and healing.
  • Soul Warding (15 points in the tree, 1 rank), the 16-point talent: Cuts Power Word: Shield's cooldown by 4 sec, all of it in the beta, and its Mana cost by 15%.
  • Penance (20 points in the tree, 1 rank): A volley of holy light deals 81 Holy damage to an enemy or heals an ally for 184, at once and every second for 2 sec, on a 12-second cooldown; at level 60, up to 673 healing per bolt.
  • Renewed Hope (20 points in the tree, 5 ranks): Flash Heal, Binding Heal, Lesser Heal, Heal, Greater Heal and Penance gain 10% critical strike chance on targets with Weakened Soul and cut its remaining duration by 5 sec.
  • Divine Aegis (25 points in the tree, 3 ranks): Your critical heals leave a shield absorbing 15% of the amount healed, for 12 sec.

Holy Precision, also new, adds 18% hit chance with Holy spells at 5 points; Unbreakable Will, Improved Power Word: Fortitude and Force of Will leave the tree.

Holy: Binding Heal and Prayer of Mending

  • Twilight Focus (0 points in the tree, 3 ranks): Gives you a 70% chance to avoid interruption caused by damage while casting any spell.
  • Binding Heal (15 points in the tree, 1 rank), the 16-point talent: Heals a friendly target and you for 223 to 271, with low threat; trainer ranks reach 757 to 893 at level 56.
  • Litany of Light (20 points in the tree, 2 ranks): When you cast a healing spell different from your previous heal, gain Mana equal to 10% of its base cost.
  • Prayer of Mending (30 points in the tree, 1 rank), the new 31-point talent: The beta client describes a heal that triggers when the target next takes damage or receives non-periodic healing, then jumps to another party or raid member. Instant, 40 yards, 10-second cooldown; our data gives no amounts.

Healing Focus and Improved Prayer of Healing leave the tree.

Shadow: Vampiric Embrace and a spreading plague

  • Improved Mind Flay (10 points in the tree, 2 ranks): Mind Flay deals 20% more damage and gains 10 yards of range, but slows the target's movement speed by 20%.
  • Vampiric Embrace (15 points in the tree, 1 rank), moved from the 21- to the 16-point row: For 30 sec, all party members are healed for 20% of any Shadow spell damage you deal, and enemies afflicted by it can trigger Spirit Tap when they die.
  • Devouring Contagion (20 points in the tree, 2 ranks): Halves the Mana cost of Devouring Plague, and a target that dies with the plague passes it to an enemy within 10 yards for the remaining duration.
  • Early Demise (25 points in the tree, 2 ranks): Shadow Word: Death gains 30% critical strike chance on targets at or below 20% health.

Improved Vampiric Embrace leaves the tree.
