PvP in World of Warcraft: Forever runs on two things. Honor is a currency you spend on two sets of PvP gear. Rank Points take you up the 14 ranks of the original game, to High Warlord for the Horde or Grand Marshal for the Alliance, with a weekly cap. Each PvP season adds a journey of weekly tasks, and a new 15-versus-15 battleground, the Darkspear Islands, opens to levels 30 to 60 off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh.
Here is how it all works, from Blizzard's two announcements of October 7, 2026, and the beta client we read (build 1.60.1.70245).

Honor: how you earn it and what it buys
You earn Honor by defeating other players, completing battlegrounds and finishing PvP quests, and the battleground highlighted during its holiday week gives more. Blizzard also evened out Honor gains between battlegrounds, so that Alterac Valley is no longer the only efficient choice.
Honor buys two sets of PvP gear: a rare one and an epic one. To get an epic piece, you upgrade its rare version with an Emboldened Seal, and each seal requires a rank before you can buy it. The client names one seal per slot, from the Premier Emboldened Wrist Seal to the Premier Emboldened Shoulder Seal.
Blizzard has also added and reworked items for specializations that had no PvP gear of their own: Shaman, for one, now have healer, melee and caster sets. Every class's PvP sets, with their pieces and bonuses, are in our item sets.
In the beta, the level 30 build raised the Honor cap from 15,000 to 25,000, and most PvP gear and upgrade tokens now cost about 50% more Honor, as our level 30 beta guide explains. These are beta values, and they can still change.
Rank Points and the 14 ranks
Rank Points come from battlegrounds and PvP quests, again with a bonus in the holiday-week battleground. They take you through the ranks of the original game, and each rank unlocks rewards to buy. Ranks have a weekly cap: Blizzard keeps that foundation of the original system, but the climb is meant to be easier.

The rewards come from Blizzard's list, and the rank names from the client. To see where you stand, open your character pane (C) and pick the Player vs. Player tab on the right: it shows your rank, your current Rank Points and the rewards your rank lets you buy.
PvP seasons and Legacy Points
During a PvP season, you climb the ranks and earn Honor. Each season also has a journey of weekly tasks, which the client calls the Field of Honor. The tasks grant Honor and Rank Points, and three of them each season also grant a Legacy Point. Because they belong to the Legacy System, the tasks stay available in later seasons.
PvP counts for 12 of the Legacy challenges:
- reaching ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14;
- Exalted with your side in Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, Warsong Gulch and the Darkspear Islands;
- weeks 4, 7 and 10 of the Field of Honor.
Our Legacy challenges guide lists them all.
Blizzard hasn't dated the first season as of October 8. Its roadmap puts a "PvP season refresh" in spring 2027, as our launch calendar shows.
Darkspear Islands, the new battleground
|
|
| Format |
15 vs 15, capture points and a flag |
| Location |
Off the shores of Dustwallow Marsh |
| Levels |
30 to 60 |
| Victory |
First team to 2,000 points |
| Factions |
Darkspear Raiders (Horde), Theramore Expeditionary Force (Alliance) |
Teams score by holding four capture points across the islands, and the more points your team holds, the faster it scores. A flag waits in the middle of the map: take it to one of the bases your team holds for extra points. The Darkspear Islands map is in our atlas.
To queue, talk to a battlemaster in any capital city, or go to the Barrens: the Horde's Darkspear Raiders camp on the Merchant Coast and the Alliance's Theramore Expeditionary Force holds Northwatch, where a portal takes you into the battle. Both bases have quests for the battleground and a vendor for their reputation.
Each side has its own reputation. As your standing rises, its vendor sells trinkets, rings, cloaks, weapons, armor and consumables. Marks of Honor, such as the Darkspear Islands Mark of Honor, turn in for reputation, and at Exalted a short questline earns the faction's tabard. Our reputations guide gives each faction's rewards rank by rank.
