The World of Warcraft: Forever beta goes from level 20 to level 30. Blizzard takes it offline on October 1 and brings it back early on October 2, European time, with a new build "that includes changes and fixes". Ten more levels open dungeons, Legacy points, key class spells and the first level 30 crafting patterns. Here is what the beta client already holds for levels 21 to 30, so you can plan before the realms come back; Blizzard will post the build's notes during the day, and this guide will follow them.
When the level 30 build arrives
- Americas: the beta goes down on the morning of October 1, Pacific time, and comes back several hours later.
- Europe: offline on the evening of October 1, CEST, back early on the morning of October 2.
Blizzard has not announced a character wipe. Until the notes are out, any number below can still change in the new build.
The dungeons from 20 to 35
The client's Group Finder places these dungeons around the new cap, with their bosses in the game's order:

City of Dalaran is the bigger of the two new ones: Arcane Anomaly, Fel Ancient, Mana Devourer, Mana Elemental, Unstable Sentinel, Shade of the Archmage, Lyn the Ignored, Atrexis the Grave Knight and Mana Wraith. Blizzard opened the beta's dungeons in stages, so its notes will say which of these the new build lets you in.
What drops where is not in the client: loot tables live on Blizzard's servers. Each dungeon page above lists the drops players report, boss by boss, and reporting yours takes a few seconds once you are signed in.
Legacy points from level 25
The Legacy system opens with your first point, and level 30 puts three kinds of challenge within reach of a beta character:
- Novice: the first character of each class to reach 25 earns a point for the whole account.
- Novice Spelunker: clear the Ruins of Lordaeron, Excavation Site: Wetlands, the Hall of Thanes or Ragefire Chasm, Wailing Caverns, the Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep.
- Journeyman: 150 skill in Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking or Tailoring, one point each.
For a levelling character, Well Rested stores more rested experience and Talented starts talent points at level 5 instead of 10, five more at level 30 when maxed. Talented needs 5 points spent in the Adventure tree first, which Well Rested provides. Try the split in our Legacy planner and tick off challenges in our Legacy checklist.
Talents and spells at level 30
A level 30 character has 21 talent points, 26 with Talented at 5 ranks; build yours in our talent planner. The main new abilities from the class trainers between levels 22 and 30, talent ranks aside:
- Druid: Shred, Rake, Dash, then Tranquility and Travel Form at 30; Blizzard's class deep dive of September 30 replaces Tiger's Fury, still in the client, with the Shifting Power talent.
- Hunter: Scorpid Sting, Rapid Fire, Frost Trap, then Feign Death, Lacerate and Aspect of the Beast at 30.
- Mage: Scorch, Counterspell, Cone of Cold, Conjure Mana Agate, then Ice Armor and the Teleport to Darnassus or Thunder Bluff at 30.
- Paladin: Seal of Justice, Concentration Aura, Blessing of Salvation, then Seal of Light and Divine Intervention at 30.
- Priest: Mana Burn, then Mind Control, Prayer of Healing, Divine Spirit and Shadow Protection at 30.
- Rogue: Vanish, Distract, Cheap Shot, then Kidney Shot at 30.
- Shaman: Totemic Projection, Magma Totem, Mana Spring Totem, Flametongue Totem, then Windfury Weapon, Grounding Totem, Reincarnation and Call of the Ancestors at 30.
- Warlock: Drain Mana, Curse of Tongues, Banish, then Summon Felhunter, Hellfire and Subjugate Demon at 30.
- Warrior: Intimidating Shout, Execute, Shield Wall, then Berserker Stance and Intercept at 30.
Ranks, costs and tooltips for every spell are in our class spells.
Gear to aim for at 28 to 30
Three groups of rewards in the client fit the new cap:
- Level 30 helms and shoulders you can craft. Blacksmiths, leatherworkers and tailors get head and shoulder patterns at skill 185, items that require level 30: Cloudy for the Horde, requiring Friendly with the Earthen Ring, Azure for the Alliance, requiring Friendly with the Kirin Tor. The Cloudy Skyforged Helm, for one, is mail with 9 Strength and 9 Stamina.
- Battleground rings, neck and trinkets at level 28. The Darkspear Raiders and the Theramore Expeditionary Force, the two sides of the new Darkspear Islands battleground, offer level 28 rare trinkets at Friendly and rings and a neck at Honored, such as the Insurgent's Band, 8 Stamina and 9 attack power. The client's brackets start the Darkspear Islands at level 30, but Blizzard has not announced the battleground for the beta.
- Dungeon drops from the table above, as players report them.
Every item up to level 30 can be compared slot by slot in our item database, and our reputations guide lists every faction's rewards.
Professions
The level 30 patterns above ask for 185 skill in Blacksmithing, Leatherworking or Tailoring. The professions database shows each recipe's skill colours and reagents. For the zones between 20 and 30 and the order to take them in, use our levelling zones guide and our levelling route.
The Forever Open
The cap matters beyond levelling: The Forever Open, a $100,000 duel tournament for level 30 Horde characters on the PvP ruleset, takes registrations until October 4, and its qualifiers start on October 17. The beta's last full day of testing is October 21.
