These are the WoW Forever Hunter macros that at least two Forever macro guides agree on: 21 of them, for the pet, the shots, the traps, Survival's melee and the aspects. Every spell name, level, talent and cooldown below is checked in the WoW Forever client, and each macro says the level it works from: paste it into the macro window and drag it to your bar.
The commands are Classic's, but some spells changed, and a few macros are built around Forever's own rules:
- Aimed Shot is a trainer spell at level 20 and shares a 6-second cooldown with Multi-Shot.
- Summon Hawk, a new Beast Mastery talent, shares Arcane Shot's 6-second cooldown.
- Raptor Strike does not trigger the global cooldown, so it can go out in the same press as Mongoose Bite.
- Intimidation: your pet's next hit stuns for 3 seconds and gains 100% critical strike chance.
- Every trap has a 30-second cooldown, and only one Frost trap and one Fire trap can be down at a time.
How to make a macro in WoW Forever
- Type
/macro in the chat box, or open the game menu and choose Macros.
- Pick a tab. General Macros are shared by every character on your account; the second tab holds this character's own. Hunter macros belong in the second.
- Click New, type a name and choose the question mark icon. With
#showtooltip on the first line, the button then shows the spell the macro is about to cast, with its cooldown.
- Paste the lines into the box (255 characters at most), close the window and drag the macro onto an action bar.
How to read them:
[mod:shift], [mod:ctrl]: the spell named after it goes out while you hold Shift or Ctrl. The first condition that is true wins; the name after the last ; is the default.
[@mouseover,harm,nodead][]: the living enemy under your cursor, or your target when the cursor is on nothing.
! before a name: a second press never turns off what is already on, such as Auto Shot or an aspect.
/castsequence reset=6: the first spell on the first press, the next one on the next press, and back to the start after 6 seconds without a press.
- Your game's language. The commands (
/cast, /petattack…) are English in every language of the game, but a spell's name must be written exactly as your client writes it. The macros on this page use the names of the English client; each language of this page has its own.
Pet macros
Send the pet with Hunter's Mark (level 10)
#showtooltip Hunter's Mark
/petattack
/cast Hunter's Mark
One press marks the target and sends your pet at it. Hunter's Mark raises the ranged attack power of everyone attacking the target and keeps it visible to you, even in stealth.
Send the pet at your mouseover (level 10)
/petattack [@mouseover,harm,nodead][]
The pet attacks the enemy under your cursor, or your target when the cursor is on nothing: pull a monster off your healer without changing target.
Call the pet back (level 10)
/petfollow
/petpassive
The pet comes back to you and stops attacking on its own. In passive mode it still attacks whenever a macro sends it.
Call, revive or heal the pet on one key (level 12)
#showtooltip
/cast [@pet,dead][mod:shift] Revive Pet; [nopet] Call Pet; Mend Pet
Mend Pet while your pet is out, Call Pet when it is not, Revive Pet when it lies dead. If it died and the button still shows Call Pet, hold Shift for Revive Pet.
Intimidation (Beast Mastery talent, level 30)
#showtooltip Intimidation
/petattack
/cast Intimidation
The pet goes in with Intimidation: its next hit stuns the target for 3 seconds and, in Forever, gains 100% critical strike chance. One minute cooldown.
Bestial Wrath (Beast Mastery talent, level 40)
#showtooltip Bestial Wrath
/petattack
/cast Bestial Wrath
The pet is on your target the moment Bestial Wrath starts: 50% more damage for 18 seconds, every 2 minutes, and nothing stops it but death.
Shooting macros
Start Auto Shot (level 1)
#showtooltip Auto Shot
/targetenemy [noexists][dead][help]
/cast !Auto Shot
It targets the nearest enemy when you have no target, a dead one or a friendly one, then shoots. The ! keeps a second press from stopping Auto Shot.
Arcane Shot without stopping Auto Shot (level 6)
#showtooltip Arcane Shot
/cast Arcane Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
The last line works under any shot: Auto Shot carries on right after it.
Aimed Shot, Shift for Multi-Shot (level 20)
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Multi-Shot; Aimed Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
Aimed Shot (2-second cast) and Multi-Shot share their 6-second cooldown in Forever: one key holds both, and Shift picks Multi-Shot when a pack comes.
Summon Hawk, Shift for Arcane Shot (Beast Mastery talent, level 25)
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Arcane Shot; Summon Hawk
/cast !Auto Shot
Summon Hawk is Forever's 16-point Beast Mastery talent: a hawk dives at your target and keeps attacking for 18 seconds, two at most at a time. It shares its cooldown with Arcane Shot, so both sit on one key, with Shift for Arcane Shot.
Rapid Fire with both trinkets (level 26)
#showtooltip Rapid Fire
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Rapid Fire
13 and 14 are the trinket slots: both go off with Rapid Fire, which has a 5-minute cooldown, 3 minutes with the 2 ranks of the Marksmanship talent Rapid Killing. A Troll can add /cast Berserking above the last line.
Three stings on one key (level 36)
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Viper Sting; [mod:ctrl] Scorpid Sting; Serpent Sting
Serpent Sting by default, Shift for Viper Sting, which drains a caster's or a healer's mana, Ctrl for Scorpid Sting, which lowers the target's chance to hit. Only one of your stings stays on a target.
Any shot on your mouseover (level 4)
#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Serpent Sting
The shot goes to the enemy under your cursor, or to your target: keep a sting on a second enemy without losing the first. Swap the name for Concussive Shot, Scare Beast or Tranquilizing Shot.
Traps and control
Two traps on one key (levels 28 and 34)
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Frost Trap; Freezing Trap
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Explosive Trap; Immolation Trap
Only one Frost trap and one Fire trap can be down at a time, so each pair shares a key: Freezing Trap, Shift for Frost Trap; Immolation Trap, Shift for Explosive Trap. Each trap has a 30-second cooldown, 40% shorter with the 2 ranks of the Survival talent Survivalist's Discipline. Until level 28 and 34, Freezing Trap (level 20) and Immolation Trap (16) work alone on these keys.
Scatter Shot, then Freezing Trap (Marksmanship talent, level 30)
#showtooltip
/petfollow
/petpassive
/castsequence reset=6 Scatter Shot, Freezing Trap
First press: Scatter Shot disorients the target for 4 seconds and turns off your attack. Any damage frees it, so the macro also calls the pet back. Second press: Freezing Trap where you stand; step back so the target walks into it. After 6 seconds without a press, the macro starts again from Scatter Shot. Send the pet back in with one of the pet macros.
Feign Death that drops combat (level 30)
#showtooltip Feign Death
/stopattack
/petfollow
/cast Feign Death
It stops your attack and calls the pet back before Feign Death, so neither keeps you in combat or brings the monster back to you. 30-second cooldown.
Concussive Shot, Shift for Wing Clip (level 12)
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Wing Clip; Concussive Shot
At range, Concussive Shot slows the target; in melee, Shift for Wing Clip, which slows it too while you step back out to shooting range.
#showtooltip
/startattack
/cast Counterattack
/cast Mongoose Bite
/cast Raptor Strike
It starts your melee attack and tries each strike in turn:
- Counterattack, lit after you parry. It is the Survival talent of the 16-point row, which immobilizes the target for 5 seconds.
- Mongoose Bite, lit after you dodge, or by the talent Expose Prey when you hit a target under your Hunter's Mark. With Lacerating Strikes, Survival's 31-point talent, it also makes the target bleed.
- Raptor Strike, which does not trigger the global cooldown in Forever and can go out in the same press.
Without the Counterattack talent, delete its line.
Aspects and tracking
Aspects on one key (level 20)
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] !Aspect of the Monkey; [combat] !Aspect of the Hawk; !Aspect of the Cheetah
Aspect of the Hawk in combat, Aspect of the Cheetah out of it, Shift for Aspect of the Monkey and its dodge chance. Aspect of the Cheetah dazes you when you are hit, which is why the macro never picks it in combat. In a group, put Aspect of the Pack (level 40) in its place.
Tracking on one key (level 24)
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Track Hidden; [mod:ctrl] Track Beasts; Track Humanoids
Track Humanoids by default, Shift for Track Hidden, Ctrl for Track Beasts. Only one tracking can be on at a time.
Where these macros come from
Each macro on this page is one that at least two WoW Forever macro guides agree on (the sources below), set to Forever's spells. Every spell name, learning level, talent and cooldown comes from the WoW Forever client, build 1.60.1.70338. The beta stops at level 30, so the macros for levels 34 and up (Explosive Trap, Viper Sting, Bestial Wrath) wait for the launch on November 4. Our launch countdown shows that day in your time zone.
Plan the talents these macros use in our Hunter talent calculator, check every rank in our Hunter spell list, and read what changed for the class in our WoW Forever Hunter guide. For the pet these macros send, our Hunter pets guide covers every family and where to tame it.
