Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, less than eight weeks from now. Pre-orders have been open since June, Rockstar's first long look at gameplay aired in August, and the next reveal lands on September 29 with a Game Informer cover story. Here is what is confirmed today, and what is still unannounced.
Release date, launch time and pre-load
Rockstar set the current date in November 2025, when it moved the game back from May 26, 2026, explaining that the extra months would let it finish GTA VI with the polish players expect. When the game was first revealed in December 2023, the target was 2025.
Rockstar has not announced an unlock hour. PlayStation Store listings, however, show a release at midnight local time: midnight Eastern Time on November 19 on the US store, midnight Paris and Madrid time on the French and Spanish stores, and midnight Brasília time on the Brazilian one.
Digital pre-orders can be pre-loaded from November 12. There is no disc this time: the boxed version contains a download code and reaches shops on November 12, so physical buyers can pre-load as well.
What the Extended Look showed
After Trailer 1 in December 2023 and Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025, Rockstar premiered "An Extended Look" on Netflix on August 27, then posted it on YouTube that evening. The nearly 27-minute video was captured on PlayStation 5 and plays more like a long trailer than a guided tour of features.
It follows Jason Duval, a former soldier working for drug runners in the Keys, and Lucia Caminos, recently out of the Leonida Penitentiary. Story scenes include a drug pickup for Vice City mogul Boobie Ike that turns into a police raid, a getaway for bank robber Raul Bautista and a security job at a skyscraper party that becomes a hostage situation. Between missions, the footage shows fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, airboats, base jumping and several kinds of racing, and players can switch between the two leads.
The setting is Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, with Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga among its named regions. To get your bearings, our interactive map of Leonida is a community reconstruction drawn by the GTA VI Mapping Community (gtadb.org), not an official map.
Price, editions and pre-order bonuses
The standard edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99. On the PlayStation Store, they are listed at €79.99 and €99.99 in France and Spain, and R$449.90 and R$549.90 in Brazil. The Ultimate Edition's extras unlock as the story advances: vehicles such as a '95 Grotti Cheetah, special revolvers, outfits and tattoos, plus five businesses that only open to its owners, including two mod shops, a salon and a tattoo parlour.
Every pre-order or purchase made before November 20 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack: a '55 Vapid Stanier with its own garage, retro outfits and hairstyles, and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm-tree shirt. Digital pre-orders also come with a free month of GTA+.
Those are the only two editions of the game. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, announced on September 24, is a limited box of merchandise, and the game is sold separately.
PC version and GTA Online
No PC version has been announced. Asked about PC launches at Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting on September 17, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company's general strategy is to launch, over time, on platforms with a meaningful audience, and that PC is becoming more and more important to its business. He gave no date.
Rockstar describes GTA VI as a single-player experience, and no online mode has been announced for it. At the same meeting, according to reports, Take-Two said it will keep supporting the existing GTA Online after GTA VI's release.
What comes next and how to get ready
Game Informer's digital issue arrives on September 29 with a 14-page cover story and 12 new screenshots, covering Leonida's weather systems, its wildlife and Rockstar's research into Miami and Florida. On launch day, Rockstar and Atlantic Records will also release Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, with 34 original tracks; six singles, including songs by Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen and Rauw Alejandro, are already streaming.
To be ready on November 19:
- Pre-order a digital copy if you want to pre-load from November 12.
- If you buy a boxed copy, plan for a full download: the box holds a code, not a disc.
- Clear storage space on your console before pre-load day.
- Follow the time left on our GTA 6 countdown.
With the date, prices and platforms settled, the open questions are a PC release, an online mode and exact unlock times from Rockstar itself, and none has an official answer yet. Our GTA 6 tools will be updated at launch.
