GTA 6 is rated 17 and up in North America and 18 in Germany, by the two rating boards that have published their decision so far. The ESRB, which rates games for the United States and Canada, gives it M for Mature 17+, and Germany's USK gives it its highest mark, "keine Jugendfreigabe" (no rating for minors, the USK 18 label). The PlayStation Store already shows an adults-only rating in three more places, PEGI 18 in the UK, 청소년이용불가 (19) in South Korea and ClassInd 18+ in Brazil, although PEGI's and GRAC's own databases did not list the game yet on October 19, 2026.

Every line was checked on October 19, 2026, at the address it links to. The ESRB's entry covers both consoles GTA 6 launches on, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The USK's entry names the Xbox Series version, under USK number 59552/26, with September 13, 2026 as its rating date. We list a rating only once we have read it ourselves, and give each board's own entry as soon as it appears in its database.
What the ESRB's M for Mature 17+ means
The ESRB defines M as "content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up", which "may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language". GTA 6 carries seven of its content descriptors. In the ESRB's own definitions:
- Blood and Gore: depictions of blood or of the mutilation of body parts.
- Intense Violence: graphic and realistic-looking physical conflict, which may involve extreme or realistic blood, weapons, and depictions of injury and death.
- Mature Humor: "adult" humor, including sexual references.
- Nudity: graphic or prolonged depictions of nudity.
- Strong Language: explicit or frequent profanity.
- Strong Sexual Content: explicit or frequent depictions of sexual behavior, possibly with nudity.
- Use of Drugs and Alcohol: the use of illegal drugs and the consumption of alcohol.
The ESRB adds an interactive element, In-Game Purchases: the game offers digital goods or extras for real money. It has published no longer summary for GTA 6, so any "ESRB description" of the story or the missions quoted elsewhere is not the ESRB's.
