A Roblox error code tells you why a game stopped or never started. Codes in the 260s and 270s mean you were disconnected, codes in the 500s and 600s that you could not join a server, and codes in the 700s that a teleport between two places of a game failed. Before trying anything else, check our Roblox server status: when Roblox itself is down, no fix on your side helps, and the errors stop once it is back.
Every meaning below comes from Roblox: its help pages for the codes they cover, and for the others, the name Roblox's own engine gives each code.
The most common Roblox error codes
| Code | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 262 | Your device could not send data to the game server | Rejoin, then try another connection |
| 264 | The same account joined a game from another device | Play on one device at a time |
| 266 | Your connection timed out | Check your connection, then rejoin |
| 267 | The game's creator banned your account from that game | Only the creator can lift it; other games still work |
| 268 | Roblox kicked you for unexpected client behavior | Close any program that changes Roblox, then reinstall it |
| 277 | Lost connection to the game server | Rejoin; if it repeats, reinstall Roblox or try another connection |
| 279 (ID = 17) | Failed to connect to the game | Reinstall Roblox, clear its data, try another connection |
| 280 | Your version of Roblox may be out of date | Update or reinstall Roblox, and set the right date and time |
| 403 | Access to roblox.com was denied: the app opened from the website failed to start | Clear the browser's cookies and cache, turn off extensions and VPNs |
| 524 | You do not have permission to join this game | Check your private server settings, or ask to be invited |
| 529 | An HTTP error while joining | Usually on Roblox's side: check its status and wait |
| 600 | The game's creator banned your account from that game | Same as 267 |
Disconnected during a game: 262, 266, 277, 279
These four are connection problems. Roblox has no help page for 262, but its engine calls it DisconnectSendPacketError: your device could not send data to the server, much like 277, a connection lost during the game. 266 means the connection timed out, and 279, shown with "ID = 17", means the game never managed to connect at all.
Roblox asks for a connection of 4 to 8 Mb/s. If the error comes back, its help pages suggest the same steps: reinstall Roblox, clear its data, try another connection, such as a phone's hotspot instead of the home Wi-Fi, and contact your internet provider if nothing changes.
Two codes close the server rather than your connection: 274 when the game's developer shuts its servers down, often for an update, and 275 when Roblox does it for maintenance. Rejoining a few minutes later is enough. 278 means you stayed idle too long.
