Free Robux does not exist. Roblox's help center calls any offer of free Robux, subscriptions or valuable items a scam, meant to get your password, your personal information or a click on a bad link, and then your account with all its Robux and items. Here is how these scams work, how to really get Robux and how to protect an account.
Why every free Robux offer is a scam
In Roblox's words, "there is no such thing as a Robux Generator," and there are no free Robux or subscription "offers, tricks, or codes." Any person, video, website or game claiming otherwise is running a scam that breaks Roblox's Terms of Use. Robux are bought from Roblox or earned as a creator.
These offers want your password, browser cookies, 2-Step Verification codes, backup codes or personal details, which Roblox employees never ask for. Following them can also cost you the account: a false purchase claim made to get free Robux can get it deleted. Real promotions are announced by Roblox on its blog, in the Notifications tab of Messages or in a banner on the site.
- Generators and surveys. Roblox says players most often lose their account by sharing their login details or by filling out online surveys.
- Giveaways and forms. Roblox asks for your password only on its login page, so a giveaway page or an in-game form that wants it, however official it looks, is a trap.
- Disguised links. Roblox cites messages asking you to remove stars or a space from a web address. Don't click odd-looking links or links leading off Roblox, even from a friend.
- Fake staff. Real staff carry the Roblox Admin badge and never ask for a password.
- Downloads. Many "exploits" hide malware such as keyloggers, and Roblox makes no browser extensions.
- Money deals. Roblox never asks you to send Robux to verify an account, bans buying or selling Robux through third-party services (Roblox gift cards excepted) and can't return what you lose outside its official Trade and Sell features.
The real ways to get Robux
- Buying them in the Roblox mobile, browser, PlayStation and Xbox One apps. On the web, on a computer or with a gift card, you get up to 25% more.
- Gift cards, sold by retailers, and online by Roblox in nine countries including the US, the UK, France and Spain. Redeem them in a web browser at roblox.com/redeem.
- Roblox Plus, which replaced Premium for new subscribers on April 30, 2026, costs $4.99 a month and includes no Robux: it takes 10% off in-game and avatar items (20% from the third month in a row) and lets you send Robux. The Plus 500, Plus 1000 and Plus 2000 bundles add that many Robux a month.
- Earning them as a creator, by selling avatar items on the Marketplace or making a game. Through the Developer Exchange (DevEx), creators aged 13 or over with at least 30,000 earned Robux can apply to cash them out; bought or transferred Robux don't count, and Roblox warns that only successful creators get there.
Robux sent between players can't be taken back, and under 16 every transfer needs a linked parent's approval. Our guide to Roblox parental controls covers spending limits.
How to protect your account
- Type your password only on roblox.com or in the official Roblox apps, and use it nowhere else.
- Turn on 2-Step Verification in Settings > Security (it needs a verified email); Roblox recommends an authenticator app. Keep the backup codes safe: each works once.
- Add a passkey: it uses your device's screen lock and, Roblox says, protects strongly against phishing.
- Deny any login request you didn't make, then change your password.
- Log out on shared computers.
Reporting a scam, and what to do after one
Report the message, chat or game itself with Report Abuse: from a profile page alone, moderators can't see what happened. In a game, open the menu at the top left and select the flag next to the player's name; a whole game has a red Report Abuse button on its page.
If you typed your password on a scam page, change it, turn on 2-Step Verification and log out of all other sessions (Settings > Security > Where you're logged in). Remove unknown downloads and browser extensions. Locked out? Contact Roblox Support from the account's first email address or the one used for its first payment. Roblox doesn't guarantee that lost Robux or items can be recovered, and asks to hear from you within 30 days.
