The first recorded level 60s of WoW Forever came about 52 hours after launch, and there were five of them at once. The World First 60 tracker, which follows racers through their streams and Blizzard's public character profiles, first saw Cloud Bells, an Undead Paladin, at level 60 on November 7 at 03:10 UTC. Three Undead Mages, Jokerd Prime, Vitochie Gofast and Burning Speed, and a Troll Shaman, Lmgd Mmr, followed within two minutes; Wowhead calls it the world first. All five are Horde characters on the Normal ruleset in Europe. The game had opened on November 4 at 23:00 UTC.
The method: one Paladin pulls, three Mages blast
According to Wowhead, the Paladin pulled large groups of monsters and the Mages killed them with Arcane Explosion. The five kept their experience in step: Jokerd explained on stream that a single experience point could leave one of them behind. The last 4% of level 59 were the hardest, Wowhead writes, with careful counting of which monsters to kill and when. Jokerd plans to go through the group's preparation on stream once everyone has rested.
Arcane Explosion is instant and hits every enemy within 10 yards of the Mage. In the game's client (build 1.60.1.70862), Mages learn its six ranks at levels 14, 22, 30, 38, 46 and 54, and rank 6 deals 239 to 258 Arcane damage for 390 mana.
Their pace, level by level
The tracker dates each level as a racer reaches it. Here is Jokerd Prime's run, counted from the launch:
| Level | Reached (UTC) | After launch |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | November 5, 12:29 | 13 h 29 min |
| 40 | November 5, 21:21 | 22 h 21 min |
| 50 | November 6, 09:35 | 34 h 35 min |
| 55 | November 6, 15:25 | 40 h 25 min |
| 60 | November 7, 03:11 | 52 h 11 min |
From level 31 to 38, each level took 45 minutes on average; from 40 to 55, 72 minutes. Level 58 took the longest, close to five hours: on the evening of November 6, from 19:21 to 22:17 UTC, the tracker shows only a tenth of a level gained. Going from 59 to 60 then took 2 hours 28 minutes, the last 4% being the hardest.
