On October 20, Blizzard published "World of Warcraft: Forever Raid Overview—Locations, Raid Sizes, and Attunement": where WoW Forever's first three raids are, how many players and bosses each one takes, and the questline that opens Onyxia's Lair, step by step for each faction. All three open to level 60 characters on December 9, and Blizzard currently plans a weekly reset for each.
The Barrow Deeps is the prison that held Illidan Stormrage for 10,000 years. One of its entrances is in Blackmaw Hold, the level 55 to 60 dungeon in Azshara: where WoW Forever's new dungeons are.
Hyjal Summit opens with a battle against an ancient guardian; then each raid chooses its path across the mountain, through ruins above and below ground, to the last encounters.
Onyxia's Lair asks for fire resistance before you go in. Every member of the raid must carry the Drakefire Amulet: in the bags is enough, it does not need to be equipped.
Onyxia attunement: the Drakefire Amulet
Each player earns the amulet through their faction's questline. Blizzard advises starting early and bringing friends for the elite quests: the chain goes through Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire more than once. Tick each step as you go: your ticks stay on this device.
Blizzard's roadmap puts these three raids five weeks after the launch of November 4; our Onyxia's Lair page gives its bosses and that date. Each raid also has a Legacy challenge worth one Legacy point, shared by every character on the account: our Legacy challenges list tracks them. The raid sizes are those of Blizzard's roadmap; this article adds the level, 60, the boss counts, the entrances, the weekly reset and the attunement.
01How do you get Onyxia attunement in WoW Forever?
Through your faction's questline, which ends with the Drakefire Amulet. Alliance players start with "Dragonkin Menace" from Helendis Riverhorn in the Burning Steppes; Horde players with "Blood and Thunder" from Warlord Goretooth in Kargath, in the Badlands. Every member of the raid must carry the amulet; in the bags is enough.
02When do raids open in WoW Forever?
On December 9, five weeks after launch, for level 60 characters: the Barrow Deeps (10 players, 8 bosses), Hyjal Summit (20 players, 13 bosses) and Onyxia's Lair (40 players). Blizzard currently plans a weekly reset for each.
03Where is the Barrow Deeps raid in WoW Forever?
Within Mount Hyjal. Blizzard names three entrances: through Mount Hyjal, through Winterspring and through Blackmaw Hold, the level 55 to 60 dungeon in Azshara. It is the prison that held Illidan Stormrage for 10,000 years, for 10 players and 8 bosses.
04Do you need to equip the Drakefire Amulet for Onyxia?
No. Every member of the raid must carry the Drakefire Amulet to enter Onyxia's Lair, but keeping it in the bags is enough. Blizzard also advises fire resistance before you go in: Onyxia's Lair is the 40-player raid, in Dustwallow Marsh.
Blizzard places WoW Forever's nine new dungeons, from the Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge to the Shaper's Terrace, and names the quests that open Dalaran.
Warlockguy (Warlock) won The Forever Open on October 18, beating Neepzen 3-1 in the final: the path through the bracket and the top player of each class.
WoW Forever’s stress test opens October 21 to any WoW account, no subscription needed: start times by region, what to do, and the full wipe that follows.
