WoW Forever: class changes found in the beta's last hotfix
Read in the server's hotfix data on October 23, not in Blizzard's notes: Righteous Fury at level 10, a reworked Frost tree, Hunter's Mark and Lava Burst.
A server hotfix that reached the WoW Forever beta by October 23, after Blizzard's last development notes of October 15, changes 4 classes. None of these changes is in Blizzard's notes: we read them in the server's hotfix data, which the game client receives when it connects to a realm, and compared them with the beta client's own tables. ForeverChanges spotted the first one, Righteous Fury, the same day. Every value below is the server's, and our talent calculator and talent changes now show them.
Paladin: Righteous Fury at level 10
Righteous Fury is now learned at level 10 instead of 16; the client's own tables still say 16. Its effect does not change: it increases the threat generated by your Holy attacks by 90% for 30 minutes.
Absorbs 448 damage for 1 min, and damage does not interrupt or delay your spells while the shield holds
Absorbs 448 damage plus a share of your Frost spell power, and increases your Frost damage by 3% for 1 min, by another 3% while the shield holds; you lose no casting time to damage while shielded
The same amount, plus a share of your Frost spell power
Frost Warding
Up to 30% more armor and resistances from Frost Armor and Ice Armor, and up to a 20% chance for Frost Ward to reflect Frost spells
The same armor and resistances; up to a 20% chance for Frost Ward to negate the warded spell, and up to 20% more absorbed by Ice Barrier and Frost Ward
Elemental Precision
5 ranks, up to 5% more chance to hit with Frost and Fire spells
3 ranks: 2%, 4% and 6%
Piercing Ice
Up to 6% more Frost damage, in the tree's third row
Removed
Frost Channeling and Improved Blizzard
Third row, second and fourth columns
Third row, first and second columns
In the server's formula, the share of spell power is 10% of your Frost spell power, and Frost Warding raises it further. The game's tooltip shows the total for your own character.
Hunter: Hunter's Mark rank 4
Hunter's Mark rank 4, learned at level 58, now increases the ranged attack power of all attackers against its target by 143 instead of 71. Ranks 1 to 3 do not change: 26, 59 and 98.
Shaman: Lava Burst rank 3
Lava Burst rank 3, learned at level 50, now deals 20% more damage to a target with your Flame Shock instead of 54%, the same bonus as ranks 2 and 4.
What we read, and how
The client keeps the hotfixes a server sends in a cache when it connects; we read that cache on October 23 and set it against the beta client's tables. Blizzard has announced none of these changes, and it can still adjust them, as it did all through the beta. We read the server's data again whenever a new build or hotfix arrives, and our tools follow it.
