GTA 6 has no online mode at launch: Take-Two calls Grand Theft Auto VI "a single-player experience", and its PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store pages list one player and no online multiplayer. Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 Online, so there is no date for one, and GTA Online, the multiplayer side of GTA V, carries on after November 19.
Everything below is as of October 7, 2026, from Take-Two, Rockstar and the two console stores.
What Take-Two and the stores say
| Source | What it says about online play |
|---|---|
| Take-Two, June 24, 2026 | "a single-player experience", out November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles |
| Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two's CEO, September 17 | GTA 6 launches "as a single player experience", with "no recurrent consumer spending anticipated with regard to this launch" |
| PlayStation Store (US) | 1 player, offline play enabled, in-game purchases optional |
| Microsoft Store (US) | Single player, optimized for Xbox Series consoles, no online multiplayer listed |
| Rockstar Newswire | none of its ten English posts on GTA VI, from Trailer 1 to the Vice City Collection, mentions an online mode |
Zelnick spoke at Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting. The store pages were read on October 7.
When does GTA 6 Online come out?
Nobody can say yet. Rockstar has not announced an online mode for GTA 6, and Take-Two has given no date.
What exists is a precedent: GTA Online opened on October 1, 2013, two weeks after GTA V came out on September 17. Rockstar has not said it will do the same this time, and Zelnick's words about "this launch" describe a single-player release on November 19.
Any online announcement will come through Rockstar's Newswire first. Our GTA 6 news feed shows each post soon after it goes up.
