AION 2's Advanced Access opened with a handful of servers; two days later NC listed 19 pairs, most of them in Europe. The server you pick on October 5 matters more than it seems: NC's transfer rules keep Advanced Access characters apart from the servers of the launch. Everything below comes from NC's notices, listed at the end.
How AION 2 servers work
- You choose a region, then a faction, then a server. Each server holds a single faction.
- Every Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian one. The players of the two meet in the Abyss and the other shared PvP spaces.
- All instanced content, dungeons included, is cross-server.
- Steam and PURPLE players share the same servers.
Every Advanced Access server
NC's Advanced Access servers notice, updated as servers were added, lists these pairs (Elyos / Asmodian):
| Region |
Pairs |
| Europe |
Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel, Vaizel / Triniel, Kaisinel / Lumiel, Yustiel / Marchutan, Ariel / Azphel, Fregion / Ereshkigal, Meslamtaeda / Beritra, Hithanya / Nemon |
| NA West |
Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel |
| NA East |
Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel, Vaizel / Triniel |
| Latin America |
Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel |
| Asia |
Siel / Israphel, Nezekan / Zikel, Vaizel / Triniel |
The same names come back in several regions, but they are different servers: Siel in Europe is not Siel in NA West. Europe went from four pairs to nine in two days; the last, Hithanya / Nemon, opened on October 2.
As of October 3, NC has not published the servers that open with the launch on October 5. Our NC notices page will show them as soon as it does.
Server transfers: the dates and the catch
NC's server transfer notice of September 30 says three things.
- When. The English notice says transfers open "starting on October 14th"; the French, German, Spanish and Portuguese notices say by October 13 at the latest. The English notice is also the only one to say the move is between servers "within the same faction".
- The price. Transfers will be free at first.
- The catch. Advanced Access players will only be able to transfer between Advanced Access servers, not to the servers of the commercial launch.
In practice, a character made during Advanced Access stays among the 19 pairs above, even once transfers open. If friends start on a launch server on October 5, a transfer won't take your Advanced Access character to them: one of you will need a new character.
Choosing a server
While queues were long, NC asked players who were waiting, or just arriving, to create their character on a recommended server rather than wait for a full one, and to use transfers later to rejoin their friends. Since every instance is cross-server, your server mostly decides who you share the open world and the Abyss with, not who you can run dungeons with.
Before October 5, check three things with your group:
- the same region: two servers with the same name in two regions are not the same server;
- the same faction: an Elyos and an Asmodian never share a server;
- Advanced Access or launch server: the transfer rules keep the two apart.
