About this tool
Every Minecraft Java Edition ID, read in the game’s files — items, blocks, mobs, effects, enchantments, biomes — named as the game names them in 11 languages. Search in any of them, then tap an ID to copy its command: /give, /setblock, /summon, /effect, /enchant or /locate biome, with your own target, count, level or length.
From the game files: Minecraft Java Edition 26.3.
The commands, argument by argument
/give <target> <item> [<count>]- Puts the item in the target’s inventory: as many as the count, one without it. The target is @s for yourself, @p for the nearest player, @a for every player, or a player’s name.
/setblock <x y z> <block>- Sets the block at a position: ~ ~ ~ is where you stand, ~ ~1 ~ one block higher, x y z a block anywhere. Water, fire and the other blocks with no item of their own are set this way, or with /fill.
/summon <entity> [<x y z>]- Brings in an entity at a position, yours when none is given. /summon refuses two: Fishing Bobber and Player.
/effect give <target> <effect> [<seconds> | infinite] [<amplifier>] [<hideParticles>]- The amplifier is the level minus one: 0 for I, 1 for II, up to 255. Without a length, 30 seconds; infinite lasts until /effect clear. true hides the particles.
/enchant <target> <enchantment> [<level>]- Enchants the item in the target’s main hand, if it can take the enchantment, up to the enchantment’s highest level: /enchant refuses more.
/locate biome <biome>- Gives the nearest biome of that kind and how far it is; a click on its coordinates in the chat writes the /tp command that takes you there.
Commands need them allowed: in single player, Allow Commands when the world is created or opened to LAN; on a server, operator rights. An ID works with or without minecraft: in front.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you use a Minecraft ID in a command?
- Type it after the command, with or without minecraft: in front: /give @s minecraft:diamond 64 gives you 64 diamonds. @s is yourself, @p the nearest player, @a every player; a player’s name works too. Commands must be allowed: Allow Commands in single player, operator rights on a server.
- Why does /give say “Unknown item”?
- The ID must be the game’s, letter for letter: lowercase English joined by underscores — golden_apple, not Golden Apple, nor a name in another language. The names change with the game’s language; the IDs never do. This list is the latest Java Edition’s: an item added recently does not exist in an older version.
- How do you give yourself an effect that never ends?
- Type infinite in place of the seconds: /effect give @s minecraft:night_vision infinite 0 true gives Night Vision at level I (amplifier 0), without its particles, until /effect clear @s removes it.
- What is the highest level /enchant gives?
- The enchantment’s own highest level, the one an enchanting table or an anvil reaches: V for Sharpness, I for Mending. /enchant also refuses an item that cannot take the enchantment, or one that already has an enchantment that rules it out. Each enchantment’s highest level is in its list.
