The 8 AION 2 classes at launch: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter, with their roles, weapons and NC’s descriptions.
AION 2 launches worldwide on October 5 with eight classes, all open to both factions, Elyos and Asmodian, and to both genders. Here is each class's role and weapon, with NC's own one-line description of each and the class's name in the game's other languages. NC publishes no difficulty rating: the advice below on choosing comes from the roles, not from a ranking.

Tanks and melee fighters
Templar is AION 2's main tank, by NC's own description: sword and shield, built to hold enemies and protect a group. It is the class groups look for in dungeons.
Gladiator swings a greatsword and hits several enemies at once ("powerful, wide-area skill attacks"). It can hold enemies too, and suits players who want damage first.
Assassin fights with two daggers, close and precise, with stealth to open fights: high burst damage on one target.
Chanter fights in melee with a staff and supports its group: NC calls it "a versatile support role with multiplayer utility", and it can heal as a second healer. It suits players who like to help a group without healing full time.
Ranged damage
Ranger shoots with a bow from long range ("long-range scout class"). NC's 2025 English announcement called the class Marksman; its Global name is Ranger.
Sorcerer deals the highest burst of magic damage, from a spellbook.
Spiritmaster summons spirits that fight beside it and controls enemies from range; NC says it is "optimized for solo play". Some English translations of the Korean version call it Elementalist.
Healer
Cleric is the main healer, with a mace, and NC says it now deals improved damage, so it can level on its own more easily than a pure healer.
Which class to choose
To be wanted in every group: Templar (tank) or Cleric (healer); every dungeon group needs one of each.
To play alone most of the time: Spiritmaster, which NC designed for solo play, or Ranger and Sorcerer, which hit from range.
To deal the most damage up close: Gladiator for several enemies at once, Assassin for one target.
To support a group without healing full time: Chanter.
Your faction does not limit your class: every class is open to Elyos and Asmodians. Choose the faction for the server and the friends you want to play with: our server list shows them by region.
The ninth class: Brawler
The Korean and Taiwanese versions added a ninth class on July 1, 2026, the Brawler (권성 in Korean, 拳星 in Taiwan), who fights with gauntlets. It is not part of the Global launch, and NC has not announced a date for it.

AION 2’s Global version launches with eight classes: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter. Every class is open to both factions and both genders. The Korean and Taiwanese versions have a ninth, the Brawler, not announced for Global.
02What is the tank class in AION 2?
The Templar is AION 2’s main tank, by NC’s own description (“core tanking role”), with a sword and shield. The Gladiator, with a greatsword, can also hold enemies but is built for damage first.
03What is the healer class in AION 2?
The Cleric is the main healer, with a mace, and NC says it now has improved damage, which helps it level alone. The Chanter, a staff-wielding support, can heal as a second healer.
04Which AION 2 class is best for solo play?
NC describes the Spiritmaster as “optimized for solo play”: it summons spirits that fight beside it and controls enemies from range. The Ranger and the Sorcerer, which attack from a distance, are also comfortable alone.
05Is the Brawler in AION 2 Global?
No. The Brawler, a gauntlet class, joined the Korean and Taiwanese versions on July 1, 2026, but it is not part of the Global launch and NC has not announced a date for it.
06Does my faction limit my class in AION 2?
No. Every class is available to Elyos and Asmodians alike. Choose your faction for the server and the friends you want to play with.
AION 2's two Daeva Passes from NC's notice: free and premium tracks, 1,500 and 1,000 Quna (about $22.50 and $15), end dates, Pass EXP, and what 100 levels give.
Every free AION 2 reward NC has announced: the mail gift that expires on October 5, the TAKEFLIGHTAION2 coupon, launch rewards and Twitch Drops, with each deadline.
