Fortnite OG moved to Season X on September 3, 2026, with update 42.10. A Reality Wave has reshaped the Chapter 1 island, the B.R.U.T.E. mech is back in the early game, and a new OG Pass unlocks the Oxide, Ultima King and Kinetic Catalyst outfits with XP earned anywhere in Fortnite. Here is what changed, from Epic's announcement.
How Season X began
The previous OG season closed with the Final Showdown live event on August 29, where, according to Beebom, Mecha Team Leader once again fought The Devourer, as in Chapter 1 Season 9. Season X followed on September 3, the day of update 42.10. In Epic's words, "reality is bending, timelines are colliding": a Reality Wave sweeps across the OG Island and brings Rift Zones, new items and weapons.
What changed on the map
- Loot Lake: the Zero Point, "the cause of it all", hangs suspended at the exact moment of its explosion, and gravity stops playing by the rules around the orb.
- Northwest of Salty Springs: The Devourer's skeleton lies where it fell to Mecha Team Leader.
- Dusty Depot is whole again: three warehouses and no craters.
- The Meteor is back in the sky, and you can land on it and explore it.
- South of Paradise Palms: a Rift Zone leads into Pandora. Stay inside and avoid damage for a few seconds, and your shields regenerate.
The B.R.U.T.E. and the loot pool
Mechs drop from the sky in the early game: race to the marker on the map and climb in with a friend. One player drives, stomps and leaps; the other handles the missile launcher and shotgun, and can spend materials to overcharge the mech's shield for a temporary defence boost. To fight mechs from a distance, Epic points to the new Automatic Sniper Rifle.
At launch, the B.R.U.T.E., the Junk Rift and the Automatic Sniper Rifle joined the loot pool. Epic lists more for later in the season: the Tactical Submachine Gun, Shield Bubble, Zapper Trap, Spicy Taco and a foraged item called Glitched. Out went vehicles (except the Driftboard), the consumable Glider, the Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle, Flint-Knock Pistol, Shadow Bomb, Air Strike, Mounted Turret, Tactical Assault Rifle and Ice Cream Cone.
The OG Pass
The OG Season X Pass levels up with XP earned anywhere and unlocks three outfits: Oxide, Ultima King and Kinetic Catalyst. Since December 2024, every Fortnite pass progresses at the same time from XP earned in any experience, so a Battle Royale match, a creator island or a Festival session all count, and the same XP advances the main Battle Pass too. Epic's announcement does not list the OG Pass's other rewards.
OG and the main season
Fortnite OG is a separate mode on the classic island. It runs alongside Battle Royale's Chapter 7 Season 4, Override, whose Battle Pass ends on November 1 (Eastern Time), according to Epic. OG's seasons retrace Chapter 1: the original Season X ran from August to October 2019, according to Beebom's list of seasons. Epic has not said when OG Season X ends or what comes after it.
